America’s SBDCs help make the dream of small business ownership a reality for more Americans — creating jobs and opportunities that build communities throughout the nation.
See how the Central California SBDC Network has served its communities.
Hibernation Hearth & Home, Sonora, CA
Dale and Marcella Cannon founded Hibernation Hearth & Home in 1986. Facing razor-thin profit margins that threatened to shutter the company, in 2016 they began working with the SBDC to "reboot" their business. In one year's time. They modernized their accounting practices to effectively track sales and profits, improved inventory management, ordering and shipping practices, strengthened vendor relationships, and invested in their business to support turnaround.
Partnering with Underserved Regions
The Central California SBDC Network works with resource partners to ensure technical assistance is available to businesses throughout our region, including underserved communities. An example is this series in Sonora, an Opportunity Zone.
Cal Poly SBDC and the SLO Hothouse Incubator
The SLO Hothouse Incubator program includes everything needed for early-stage companies to develop into financially stable, high-growth enterprises by providing the tools, training and infrastructure that help facilitate smarter, faster growth.
