Surviving 'COVID chaos' as an essential small business, Vision Clinic — Springfield, MO
Dr. Steve Rice never thought he would have to furlough family. Then along came COVID-19. Across its five locations, Vision Clinic has 85 employees, 79 of whom had to be furloughed during the state's stay-at-home order amid the pandemic. Among those furloughed were Rice's son, daughter-in-law and daughter, three of Vision Clinic's 12 doctors. "In a cloud of uncertainty and anxiety," Rice said, the Missouri SBDC "was a voice of confidence and calm" and fears were allayed with PPP and EIDL.
